Assistant Service Engineer - Industrial Refrigeration

About the role

Johnson Controls is hiring an Assistant Service Engineer for its industrial refrigeration business in Singapore. You will carry out service, preventive maintenance, commissioning, overhaul, troubleshooting, installation, warranty repair and other specialist activities on Johnson Controls and third-party industrial refrigeration systems.

Key responsibilities

• Complete service work efficiently, minimising repeat visits and warranty costs
• Identify service, repair, upgrade and modernisation opportunities and share them with stakeholders
• Support and coordinate subcontractors working on behalf of Johnson Controls
• Maintain the service vehicle and tools and equipment assigned to you
• Build strong customer relationships to support retention and find service opportunities
• Promote a strong safety culture across all work sites, including contractors and third parties
• Take part in an after-hours standby and emergency response roster as required
• Follow safety policies, customer requirements and local regulations; conduct risk assessments and safe work practices before starting work
• Produce accurate service reports with findings, corrective actions, recommendations and follow-up
• Use digital service management systems, mobile apps and reporting tools to document service
• Investigate equipment failures, support root-cause analysis and back up senior engineers' technical advice to customers
• Travel to customer sites across Singapore and occasionally within the region

Required profile

• Basic understanding of refrigeration, HVAC or mechanical systems
• Basic knowledge of screw, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors
• Basic electrical and controls knowledge
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
• Problem-solving, analytical thinking, good communication and teamwork skills
• Safety-conscious, positive and customer-focused

Required skills

• Preferred: ASHRAE standards and refrigerant handling and safe work practices
• PC skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email
