Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational & Developmental Psychology

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to strengthen its Educational and Developmental Psychology programme. The successful candidate will teach across undergraduate, graduate and professional education streams and lead research that bridges theory, policy and practice.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver existing and new courses at undergraduate, graduate and teacher‑education levels.
• Conduct research that informs educational policy and classroom practice.
• Develop a personal research agenda, secure funding, and publish in reputable journals.
• Supervise graduate dissertations and theses.
• Build professional networks with local and international scholars and practitioners.
• Collaborate with colleagues across NIE, sharing expertise through seminars, workshops and committees.

Required profile

• PhD in psychology or a closely related field with a focus on educational or developmental psychology.
• Minimum of four years of distinguished teaching experience, including innovative use of technology.
• Strong commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Eligibility or current registration with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (advantageous).
• Experience supervising graduate research projects (advantageous).
• Willingness to engage beyond one’s niche and adapt to Singapore’s education system.
• For Associate Professor candidates: a sustained independent academic reputation with high‑impact publications or major research grants.
