About the role
The Singapore Institute of Technology seeks senior faculty to lead applied research and teaching in Aerospace Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). The role involves developing smart maintenance solutions, supervising industry‑linked projects, and contributing to continuing education programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to applied research projects with industry partners and government agencies in Aerospace MRO.
- Develop and teach Aerospace MRO‑related modules within the Aircraft Systems Engineering programme and interdisciplinary courses.
- Supervise industry doctorate, master’s and capstone projects in collaboration with domain faculty and industry partners.
- Drive translational research outcomes, including deployment of solutions in operational MRO environments.
- Serve as a technical mentor across AI, robotics, and materials disciplines to enable cross‑domain integration for smart MRO systems.
Required profile
- PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong track record in Aerospace MRO, aerospace systems, or related applied research/industry practice.
- Demonstrated leadership on industry‑defined problems and experience with research collaborations, grants, and system deployment.
- Established thought leadership (publications, patents, open‑source tools, keynotes) and ability to communicate with domain experts and the public.

- Predictive Maintenance & Prognostics (PHM)
- Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and NDT/NDI
- Digital Twins and physics‑informed modelling
- Aerospace robotics and autonomous inspection systems
- Composite materials, damage detection and repair
- Additive manufacturing for aerospace repair (flight‑certified applications)
- Aircraft systems, gas turbine maintenance, and MRO best practices
