Associate / Assistant Director, Sustainability Office (1-Year Contract)

About the role

The Monetary Authority of Singapore's Sustainability Group supports financial institutions in the regional low-carbon transition, covering energy transition, adaptation and resilience financing, and carbon markets. You will join a central team developing and implementing strategies and initiatives in these areas, working with MAS departments, government and industry partners to strengthen Singapore's position as a climate and resilience financing centre. This is a 1-year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Sustainability Group on projects that catalyse financing for Asia's low-carbon transition, depending on team priorities and your experience
• Carbon markets: work with government agencies and industry partners on whole-of-economy strategies to grow Singapore as a carbon services and trading hub, and help the financial sector capture opportunities in regional carbon markets
• Adaptation and resilience financing: develop and scale financing approaches for regional adaptation and resilience needs with industry and other government agencies
• Account management: support brief inputs for strategic meetings, assess KPIs and handle administrative processing of grants during annual reviews
• Cross-MAS sustainability initiatives: assess developments in Singapore's sustainable finance ecosystem, contribute to MAS sustainability publications and support engagements with international experts and advisory panels

Required profile

• Relevant work experience in the financial sector is preferred
• Knowledge of carbon markets and adaptation and resilience is an advantage
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to change in a fast-paced environment
• Shortlisting may require a medical declaration and/or further assessment
