Associate Heart Valve Specialist (Sewing Operator)

About the role

Edwards Lifesciences' manufacturing teams build the tools, technologies and devices that improve patients' lives. As an Associate Heart Valve Specialist (Sewer), you will sew tissue and non-tissue components used to make medical devices, such as stents and valves, in line with regulatory and company guidelines. The role involves sewing, assembly, delivery and distribution.

Key responsibilities

• Use tools such as needles, scissors, forceps, specialized tooling, a microscope, magnifying lamp and MES to perform sewing steps in rotation during stent/valve assembly
• Verify completed steps against specifications for stents and/or valves
• Follow work instructions and SOPs, record traceable information on device history records, and enter data into systems such as JDE and MES where required
• Clean and sanitize workstations at the start of each shift and when switching work orders
• Perform visual inspection under a microscope and review colleagues' work
• Carry out general housekeeping, sanitization with approved chemicals, and material handling and printing

Required profile

• Secondary education; previous sewing, GMP, clean room or medical device experience preferred
• No previous related experience required
• Ability to read, comprehend and speak English, and good communication skills
• Team player who can follow detailed manufacturing instructions with minimal supervision
• Strict attention to detail and adherence to company rules, including pandemic protocols and environmental health and safety rules

Required skills

• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Basic understanding of manufacturing procedures
• Basic computer skills preferred
• Successful completion of ongoing training on assembly steps
