About the role
Wise is looking for a Technical Team Lead to take ownership of two critical Global Cards Operations domains: Cards Billing Operations and Cards Settlement Operations. The role sits at the intersection of operations, product and engineering, driving initiatives that lower costs, remove junk fees and ensure scheme payouts are executed on time. It is a full-time position based in Singapore.
Key responsibilities
- Define the strategy for Spend Billing and Settlement Operations, reducing operational costs with schemes such as Visa and Mastercard while keeping on-time payout SLAs and strong internal controls.
- Own the yearly roadmap and team OKRs, translating business priorities into plans supporting country launches, new products, margin improvements and operational scalability.
- Own domain KPIs including settlement payout SLA, billing reconciliation rate, cost per transaction and avoidable cost reduction.
- Lead root-cause analysis of settlement delays, payout discrepancies and billing issues, design scalable solutions and reduce manual reconciliation and payout.
- Ensure scheme mandates are rolled out, act as main point of contact for external auditors and improve processes with checks, approvals and accountability.
- Partner with Finance, Treasury, Analysts, Payment Operations and Internal Controls (Tallinn and London) on month-end reporting, internal controls reports and banking integrations, especially with US BIN sponsors.
- Manage, coach and upskill the team in project management, SQL, dashboards, automation thinking and practical AI usage.
Required profile
- Strong Visa/Mastercard billing and settlement expertise, including scheme billing, settlement cycles, mandates and partner cost structures.
- Understanding of payment methods and banking integrations, including how payouts run through direct debits, bank transfers or other rails.
- People management skills to lead, coach and develop a team.
- Strategic planning skills for yearly roadmaps, OKRs and delivery plans.
- Stakeholder management, clear communication of complex billing, settlement, cost and control issues to senior stakeholders, and sound prioritisation across SLA, cost, audit readiness, product launches and team capacity.
