Claim Analyst

About the role

Vitol, a global energy and commodities trader, is hiring a Claim Analyst in Singapore. The role covers demurrage and shipping-related claims arising from charterparties and sales contracts, working with shipowners, suppliers, receivers and terminals.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse charterparties and related shipping documents, and create and compute demurrage and shipping-related claims with shipowners
• Review demurrage and shipping cost claims received from shipowners
• Analyse sale contracts and related documents (including GTCs) and create and compute claims with counterparties such as suppliers, receivers and terminals
• Review demurrage and sales contract claims received
• Counter and negotiate settlements, liaising with internal business where required
• Build strong relationships with counterparties and internal business
• Help report outstanding positions to management and keep up with industry developments and legal case law

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in demurrage and claims handling, ideally in both charterparty and sales contract claims across the full value range
• Tertiary education (Polytechnic Diploma and above); recent graduates with a Diploma in Maritime studies or equivalent are welcome
• Right to work in Singapore
• Ability to work in a high-pressure trading environment, in a team and independently, and to communicate accounting concepts to senior management
