Cloud Engineer (Monitoring / AWS)

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer specialized in monitoring and observability to join our team on a contract basis. You will work across on‑premise and AWS environments, ensuring service reliability and supporting cost‑governance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain monitoring platforms (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK) for applications, databases, infrastructure and networks.
• Monitor system health via logs, metrics and alerts, perform incident triage and coordinate timely resolution.
• Develop dashboards and reports to track service availability, performance trends and operational insights.
• Support cloud cost monitoring, tagging strategies and optimisation opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement of monitoring coverage, automation and operational processes.
• Participate in incident management, maintain documentation and provide after‑hours support when required.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, NOC or cloud environments.
• Hands‑on experience with monitoring/observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk or ELK Stack.
• Experience working in hybrid (on‑premise + AWS) environments.
• Familiarity with AWS Cost Explorer, budgeting, tagging and cost optimisation.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) and exposure to SRE practices.
• AWS Associate certification and/or AWS FinOps Certified Practitioner preferred.
