Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer)

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chips and advanced displays. As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) based in Singapore, you act as the direct liaison with customers, helping them install, maintain and upgrade equipment. You use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and fix technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all standard service activities unassisted at Tier I level, and standard Tier II work with assistance
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance within set timeframes and complete quality repairs
• Respond to fab issues by communicating with other engineers and taking part in escalation conference calls
• Verify the operational quality of system equipment unassisted and assist senior engineers as needed
• Follow checklists and procedures, keeping the correct revisions of procedures and schematics available before work
• Diagnose and resolve recurring technical problems and day-to-day issues, including exposure to systemic issue resolution
• Support the preparation and delivery of technical information to internal and external stakeholders
• Execute projects that reduce costs and increase uptime, using knowledge management systems and following IP guidelines
• Use diagnostic techniques, documentation and test equipment with assistance from senior engineers, covering corrective and predictive maintenance
• Plan, communicate and coordinate support plans with customer management and assume responsibility for customer satisfaction in your work area
• Comply with all safety procedures

Required profile

• Knowledge of fundamental theories and minimum aid needed to read circuit diagrams
• Ability to work in a clean room, wearing appropriate PPE such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields
• Physical demands: extensive walking, standing, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 35 lbs, and using hand and power tools; the position is full time and non-relocatable
