Customer Engineer - iTeam (New College Graduate)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) in Singapore for its iTeam program, aimed at new college graduates. The engineer acts as the direct liaison with customers, helping install, maintain and upgrade equipment while using digital analytics for troubleshooting and applying basic diagnostic techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers on installing, maintaining and upgrading customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues, with guidance from seniors.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.
• Take part in projects and assignments that meet organisation goals and carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 0 to 1 year of experience in customer support, field service or a related engineering or technical field.
• Able to travel up to 75% of the time to support overseas customers.
• Able to meet on-site requirements, including safety, environmental guidelines and customer protocols.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
