Customer Engineer

About the role

At Cloudflare we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. The Customer Engineer (CE) is the core driver of our technical go‑to‑market strategy, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the customer journey. Reporting to the Regional Customer Engineering Leader, you will own the technical relationship from discovery through adoption and expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, design bespoke architectures and deliver product demos and Proof‑of‑Concepts across Cloudflare’s security, networking and developer platforms.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor across the entire customer lifecycle, guiding onboarding, renewal and expansion.
• Own a variable quota, driving platform adoption, revenue retention and identifying cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities.
• Leverage AI‑augmented workflows to automate routine tasks such as RFP responses, sandbox provisioning and telemetry monitoring.

Required profile

• Experience in a customer‑facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering or Forward Deployed Engineering.
• Broad technical expertise spanning web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure and enterprise architecture.
• Proven track record in a quota‑carrying or revenue‑aligned environment with strong SaaS metric understanding.
• Exceptional presentation and stakeholder‑management skills, able to translate technical detail into C‑suite business value.

Required skills

• Python, JavaScript or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cybersecurity solutions.
• Familiarity with Cloudflare’s developer stack, Workers AI and AI Gateway.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, large language model orchestration and retrieval‑augmented generation.
