Data Scientist - Semiconductor Yield & Process

About the role

Micron is hiring a Data Scientist to support its Process Integration and Process Engineering teams in enhancing product yield and improving process variation in advanced semiconductor manufacturing. You will work closely with multi-functional process areas to solve manufacturing line problems, and help develop software programs, algorithms and automated processes that turn inline, param and probe data into actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze inline, param and probe data with engineering teams to identify yield detractors and drive continuous improvement.
• Extract, cleanse and analyze datasets from SQL databases, sensor networks and fabrication tool logs.
• Apply data science, statistical modeling and machine learning to solve yield issues and support defect reduction.
• Support process and integration engineers in running and analyzing Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Build automated reports and dashboards with tools such as Dash, Plotly and Angular.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work and share AI-enabled improvements with colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, AI or a related engineering field.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in data science, analytics or scripting applications.
• Willingness to learn semiconductor manufacturing principles and work with equipment and integration engineers.
• Preferred: semiconductor industry experience, basic knowledge of fabrication processes and device physics, and knowledge of DRAM/NAND memory architecture.

Required skills

• Strong Python and SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• Familiarity with statistical methods such as SPC, DOE and FDC/EDA.
• At least 2 years of experience with data visualization tools such as Dash, Plotly and Angular.
• Ability to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively.
