Deputy Director, Administrations

About the role

The Deputy Director, Administrations (DD) supports the Chair of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at NTU, providing senior leadership for the school’s administrative initiatives, technical operations, and strategic execution to achieve the university’s goals.

Key responsibilities

• Chart strategic directions and roadmaps for MAE, aligning them with university objectives and driving process improvements.
• Collaborate with central administrative offices and the College to coordinate workflow processes across functions and departments.
• Lead and guide administrative and technical functions, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
• Plan and review manpower allocation to optimise resource use and support faculty, students, and stakeholders.
• Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and assist the Chair with appraisal calibration.
• Develop, review, and improve the school’s structure, systems, policies, and procedures to enhance organisational effectiveness.
• Oversee financial operations, including reporting, analysis, budget planning, monitoring, and asset management.
• Analyse data and provide recommendations for redesigning processes and improving productivity.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in university or large‑scale administrative environments.
• Strong strategic planning and policy‑development capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage financial operations, budgets, and asset portfolios.
• Experience supervising staff, conducting performance reviews, and allocating resources effectively.
• Excellent collaboration skills with central university offices and external partners.
