Director, Business Unit Operations

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Director, Business Unit Operations in Singapore. The role leads a team delivering cross-functional execution of division programmes, manages and develops employees (including managers), and drives cost, budget and financial targets for its business unit.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team to deliver cross-functional execution of division programmes and meet or exceed objectives and financial goals.
• Manage and develop individual employees and may manage managers; partner with the Division GM and staff, possibly acting as chief of staff.
• Prioritise the product portfolio within a division and align the budget.
• Track and adjust operating expense (OPEX) spending against project plans and targets, and ensure AOP, financial and product objectives are met.
• Create and continuously improve business processes within the BU.
• Drive division-level COGS reduction plans and enhanced product lifecycle (ePLC) initiatives to hit gross margin, lead-time and cycle-time targets.
• Coordinate business continuity planning, crisis management and safety compliance, including lab safety.
• Support completion of ePLC project operational deliverables and develop cross-divisional and cross-functional programmes.

Required profile

• Broad understanding of different systems, theories and practices.
• Industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across the business unit.
• Ability to lead through subordinate managers and contribute to segment and functional strategy.
• Ability to resolve complex business problems with advanced analytical judgement.
• Negotiation and influence skills at senior executive and external levels, with sensitivity to the audience.
• Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with them.
