Director, Industry

About the role

The Director (Industry) drives strategic partnerships with industry, public agencies and international universities to strengthen research, innovation and commercialisation. The role oversees engagement initiatives, secures industry funding and aligns academic expertise with industry needs to boost the university's impact and reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic plan to build a pipeline of partnerships with key industry stakeholders, and expand ties with industry leaders and public agencies
• Integrate curricula with global and industry trends, involve industry professionals in teaching and mentorship, and promote internships, industry-led projects and hands-on training
• Lead university-level partnership initiatives, champion research and education collaborations, and work across colleges, schools and research centres
• Oversee governance, data management and performance monitoring, set policies for research funding and publications, and share success stories to attract more partnerships and funding
• Organise industry-academia conferences, networking events and expos, and engage stakeholders in co-creation
• Build trust with faculty, staff and partners, and train them in new collaboration models and professional development

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor's degree with strong administration and management experience in a research and development environment
• Significant leadership experience in university-industry collaborations, strategic planning or organisation development
• Proven track record of managing and expanding large-scale partnerships and initiatives
• Strong understanding of global and industry trends in education, research and technology
• Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
• Expertise in governance, data management and performance measurement, with a visionary, change-leading mindset
