Director of Data Science, Commerce – Site Lead

About the role

InMobi is rebuilding its Demand‑Side Platform to optimise commerce outcomes such as purchases and return on ad spend. The new Applied Science team in Beijing will drive the AI engine that powers this shift, and you will lead the team as site lead.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead a high‑calibre Applied Science research team in Beijing, hiring and setting the research agenda with full budget and head‑count support.
• Define and execute the applied‑science roadmap for commerce‑DSP intelligence, covering bidding theory, conversion and ROAS prediction, contextual bandits, embeddings, recommendation and causal inference.
• Take research ideas through to production, partnering with platform and serving teams to ship models that run at millions of queries per second with sub‑50 ms latency.
• Collaborate closely with the Bangalore site to align road‑maps, standards and ownership across the organisation.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in applied science or machine learning, with several years of building and leading technical teams.
• Proven track record of shipping ML systems to production at scale, delivering measurable impact in latency‑sensitive environments.
• Deep expertise in one or more of auction/bidding mechanisms, large‑scale prediction (CTR/CVR/ROAS), recommendation/embedding systems, contextual bandits or causal inference.
