Education Research Scientist, Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE), an autonomous institute within Nanyang Technological University, is recruiting an Education Research Scientist for its Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC). SoLEC aims to become an international leader in the Science of Learning in Education by combining neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, physiology, education, technology and AI in Education. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of interdisciplinary research, particularly at the intersection of cognitive science, psychology, statistics and data analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement SoLEC's research programmes in collaboration with colleagues
• Lead the development of research projects and secure external funding opportunities
• Publish internationally in peer-reviewed journals and share findings
• Translate research into practice and policy impact within education systems
• Manage administrative and programme-related tasks to keep operations running smoothly
• Contribute to the strategic research initiatives of SoLEC, OfR and NIE
• Take part in the wider research and service community of NIE

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline such as Cognitive Science, Psychology, Statistics, Data Analytics or a closely related field
• Up to 2 years of post-PhD experience
• Ability to lead and collaborate within research teams
• Track record of publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and securing competitive, peer-reviewed research funding
• Experience conducting independent, innovative research and applying data analytics and research methods to learning and educational data
• Excellent spoken and written English
