Electrical Engineer – EMSEA Site

About the role

Evonik Methionine SEA Pte. Ltd. is looking for an Electrical Engineer for its EMSEA site in Singapore. The role covers the design, installation, maintenance and operation of electrical systems up to 66 kV, including substations, switchgear, generators, transformers and motor control centres, and provides technical support, cost estimation and on-call duty.

Key responsibilities

• Design, install, repair, maintain, operate, inspect and test electrical installations up to 66 kV, including main and high-voltage substations, GIS, motor and diesel generators, transformers, UPS, MCC, PU, SCS and related PLCs
• Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot and solve problems during startup, maintenance and production
• Program, modify or specify algorithms, graphics, displays, interlocks and calculations for the electrical systems
• Contribute to facility quality, safety and environmental programmes, including nonconformance actions and MOC processes, and meet FAMI QS requirements in the Methionine plant
• Provide technical expertise and oversight for E&I maintenance and technical changes, train the maintenance team on electrical safety, and suggest cost-saving and safety improvements
• Assist with production and troubleshooting of E&I-related issues
• Plan, manage, estimate, design, construct and start up plant projects for electrical, automation, instrumentation and facility systems
• Act as focal point for electrical issues and take over scheduled E&I on-call engineer duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Process Controls or equivalent
• At least 2 to 5 years of experience in electrical engineering in the chemical or petrochemical industry
• Willingness to work on Jurong Island, with company transport provided
• Ability to work in 24/7/365 operations, including on-call duty
• Open-minded towards teamwork, good communication skills and adaptability to cultural differences
• Focus on safety, quality, productivity and environmental concerns

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of Siemens GIS and SCS
• Reading of P&ID, electrical and instrument drawings and equipment manuals
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP)
• Willingness to attend internal and external training, possibly abroad
