Equity Research Analyst (Singapore)

About the role

This is an equities research role within the Singapore Manulife Equities Investment Team, focused mainly on the Singapore market. The analyst studies stocks and sectors based on fundamentals, builds earnings models and investigates companies from the bottom up, then makes recommendations to the investment team. The position is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and follow the investment philosophy and process of the Singapore Investment Centre and Manulife Investment Management
• Analyse companies through cash flows, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, DCF and valuation, with ESG considerations
• Keep up to date with macroeconomic, economic and financial trends, and political developments affecting the assigned universe
• Initiate research on the Singapore market, including detailed sector and company analysis, and produce stock recommendations with a clear investment thesis and valuation
• Plan and carry out own visits to assigned markets and write detailed research reports to the required standard
• Produce summary reports on findings from meetings and conference calls
• Recommend stock ideas in a timely way so they can be added to the portfolio, and monitor recommendations and market movements to advise buy/sell decisions

Required profile

• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience with equities research in the Singapore market is an advantage
• Ability to work independently and spot good sector or individual stock opportunities

Required skills

• Knowledge of investment theory and quantitative techniques
• Financial modelling and financial information systems such as Bloomberg are an advantage
• Experience with Python for financial analysis, data manipulation, quantitative research, automation or investment research workflows is preferred
