Event Director – Technology Portfolio (Japanese Speaking)

About the role

The Event Director will launch and scale a new technology exhibition in Japan, building the event and its team from the ground up. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will own the full P&L, develop strategy, and act as the brand’s face in the Japanese market.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the event programme, budget, resource plan and growth strategy while ensuring profitability.
• Recruit, onboard and lead the Japan event team, set performance targets and conduct regular appraisals.
• Collaborate with internal departments, external partners and vendors to deliver seamless planning, operations and production.
• Drive sales and marketing initiatives, secure exhibitor contracts, sponsorships and additional revenue streams.
• Monitor competitor activity, market trends and financial performance, providing monthly forecasts and reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Event Director or Senior Event Manager, preferably launching a new market or inaugural show in Japan or APAC.
• Strong commercial acumen with full P&L responsibility and a track record of exceeding sales targets.
• Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing and presenting) and deep understanding of Japanese business culture.
• Leadership mindset with the ability to build and motivate high‑performing teams.
