Fibre Engineer (Optical Testing & Commissioning)

About the role

Lucky Joint Construction is seeking a Fibre Engineer to lead optical testing and commissioning for dark‑fibre network projects across Singapore. The role involves performing end‑to‑end validation, troubleshooting, and ensuring that fibre routes meet customer acceptance criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct OTDR, OLTS, insertion loss, ORL, CD, PMD and BER testing using industry‑standard equipment.
• Analyse OTDR traces with EXFO Toolbox (or equivalent) to locate faults, losses and impairments.
• Troubleshoot high splice loss, connector contamination, attenuation, fibre breaks, reflections and bends, and verify corrective actions.
• Support commissioning, maintenance, acceptance testing and fault‑investigation across multiple project sites.
• Inspect and certify optical connectors and end‑faces in line with IEC standards.
• Review engineering drawings, routing plans and testing packages before field work.
• Coordinate testing schedules and site access with project coordinators, network operators, subcontractors and vendors.
• Validate test data from external vendors, raise technical issues and follow up on resolutions.
• Prepare detailed test reports, analysis, acceptance packages and project close‑out documentation.
• Maintain calibrated testing equipment and accurate records of results and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in optical fibre testing, commissioning or network deployment.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with internal teams, customers and external vendors.
• Willingness to travel to multiple field locations.

Required skills

• OTDR, OLTS, insertion loss, ORL, CD, PMD and BER testing.
• Proficiency with EXFO Toolbox or equivalent software.
• Interpretation of OTDR traces and fibre test results.
• Knowledge of IEC fibre‑optic testing standards and connector inspection.
• Experience with fibre certification and network troubleshooting.
