Global Product Support Engineer (Automation)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Global Product Support Engineer to drive new product design, introduction, and field readiness for its vacuum mainframe platform in Singapore. The role requires deep knowledge of vacuum systems, robotics, and semiconductor substrate handling, and involves cross‑functional collaboration to ensure product reliability and serviceability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead first‑product builds and lab testing, own beta site test plans, and support final product tests.
• Develop installation plans, technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides; create lessons learned, BKMs, and service bulletins.
• Partner with supplier manufacturing and business units to create OMS procedures and publish high‑quality documentation.
• Work with Quality & Reliability on field issues, drive CAPA/8D processes, and conduct failure analysis.
• Build and deliver training for new products, coordinate spare‑part readiness, and support field escalations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• 2–4 years of experience with hardware, semiconductor capital equipment, robotics/EFEM, or complex electromechanical systems.
• Strong technical judgment, cross‑functional communication, and ability to lead issue resolution.

Required skills

• Vacuum mainframe and automation expertise.
• Robot and substrate handling experience (SCARA/Cartesian arms, pre‑aligners, end‑effectors).
• Software and firmware control systems knowledge.
• Installation, startup, retrofit, and maintenance documentation for complex systems.
• FMECA, Failure Analysis, CAPA/8D methodologies.
• Data collection and analysis for qualification and best‑known‑methods.
• Reading schematics/prints; familiarity with robotics/handlers/EFEMs.
