Job description
About the role
Applied Materials is hiring a Global Product Support Engineer (GPS) in Singapore to support new product design, introduction and field readiness for its vacuum mainframe platform products. The engineer works cross-functionally with Supplier Manufacturing, internal business units, Quality & Reliability and Field teams to drive installation readiness, serviceability, reliability, field escalations and learnings back into product design, and performs on-site support for critical escalations.
Key responsibilities
- New product intro and lab builds: take part in or own the first product build and test in the SGP lab, support final testing, own beta site test plans and reporting, and maintain clean room etiquette and system process knowledge.
- Field readiness and documentation: write installation plans, technical product manuals, preventive/corrective maintenance procedures and troubleshooting guides; create and release lessons learned, best known methods, customer engineering notices and internal service bulletins; contribute to FMECA and integrate legacy corrective actions into new designs.
- Resolve lab non-conformances and field issues, close them through documentation and change orders, and occasionally travel to customer sites.
- Collaborate with suppliers and business units on OMS procedures, manuals and lessons learned, and with documentation and engineering teams on procedures and issues found in lab or field.
- Partner with Quality & Reliability on field issues and CAPA (8D) processes, conduct or facilitate failure analysis and collect data to build best known methods.
- Build initial training for new products, train CEs, PSEs and TPS before shipment, identify spare parts and coordinate their stocking.
- Take part in engineering design reviews so that lessons learned and corrective actions are captured in design intent.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree (engineering or related field preferred).
- 2-4 years of experience in hardware, semiconductor capital equipment, robotics/EFEM or complex electromechanical systems.
- Strong cross-functional communication, problem solving and leadership on complex issues, and ability to work with internal and supplier resources.
Required skills
- Vacuum mainframe, automation, robot and substrate handling experience (SCARA/Cartesian arms, prealigners, end-effectors)
- Software control systems, including firmware control systems, install/startup and maintenance documentation
- FMECA, FA, CAPA or 8D methodologies; data collection and analysis for qualification and best known methods
- Reading schematics and prints; robotics/handlers/EFEM familiarity is a plus
Nice to have: service/field procedure writing, beta site test plan experience, prior GTT or equivalent "train-the-trainer" experience. The work location is Science Park II, moving to Tampines by the end of 2026; 10% of the time is spent travelling, and relocation is eligible.
