Hardware Engineering Technician

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Hardware Engineering Technician in Singapore. The role supports the operation and maintenance of semiconductor equipment, working alongside process personnel and senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the tool owner in planning the daily work schedule within the assigned territory so that preventive and remedial maintenance can be completed.
• Use escalation policies to keep management informed of downtime situations.
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual periodic maintenance on systems within set time frames, including wet cleans where required.
• Work with fellow Applied Materials process personnel on the operation and maintenance of systems.
• Troubleshoot and correct process variations, partly with the help of senior engineers.
• Assist in start-ups, retrofits and relevant change implementation projects, and give technical assistance to less experienced colleagues.
• Identify process-related system problems using training and experience, and develop plans to increase productivity while tracking equipment performance and planning uptime improvements.
• Plan and execute support activities across a wide range of systems, with possible technical assistance for daily tasks.

Required profile

• ITE or diploma in engineering or relevant studies.
• Basic understanding of semiconductor processes/equipment is preferred.
• Past experience handling AMAT equipment is an added advantage.
• Ability to commit to a rotating shift pattern (Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm or 2pm-11pm) and 12-hour shifts in the future.

Required skills

• Preferably a working knowledge of Statistical Process Control and quality improvement methods.
• Risk assessment and semiconductor industry terminology.

The work location is Science Park II, moving to Tampines from April 2027. The position is full time, regular, with no travel and no relocation eligibility.
