Intern, Trade Finance Product Management

About the role

ING's Wholesale Bank Asia internship programme (2027) offers a 6-month placement in the Trade Finance Product Management team within Transaction Services, running from January to June 2027. The intern supports the team in developing, managing and enhancing trade finance solutions, with exposure to products such as letters of credit, guarantees, supply chain finance and working capital solutions. The role bridges product strategy, operational processes and client needs.

Key responsibilities

• Product support and development: help design and refine trade finance products and services, and prepare product documentation, training materials and presentations.
• Market and client analysis: research market trends, competitor offerings and client requirements, and analyse customer feedback to find improvement opportunities.
• Operational and compliance tasks: support first-level checks for compliance with credit and regulatory standards, and help maintain accurate records and reporting tools for trade finance transactions.
• Cross-functional collaboration: work with front office, operations and risk teams, and take part in meetings on product rollout and enhancements.
• Administrative and project work: update Excel trackers, prepare reports and assist in project coordination.

Required profile

• Legal work rights in the country of internship.
• Typically pursuing a degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.
• Eagerness to learn, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a collaborative attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Familiarity with trade finance concepts is a plus.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, communication and problem-solving.
