Java Developer (Officer)

About the role

Citi is looking for a Java Developer (Officer) to join its team in Singapore. The role sits within Applications Development and involves designing, implementing and supporting customer-facing banking systems.

Key responsibilities

• Use knowledge of application development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas, to identify and define system enhancements, including using script tools and analysing and interpreting code.
• Consult with users, clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend programming solutions, install and support customer exposure systems.
• Apply fundamental programming knowledge to design specifications.
• Analyse applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, and carry out testing and debugging.
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or junior-level analysts.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience applying Java, J2EE, HTML/CSS, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, Struts, Spring and microservices.
• Experience with transactional applications for low latency, high availability use is a plus.
• Experience with JMS/Kafka is a plus.
• Conscientious, consistent in spotting security vulnerabilities and working with engineering teams and stakeholders, and a team player who is a keen learner.

Required skills

• Core Java, exception handling, static blocks, OOP concepts, collections, multi-threading, HTTP sessions, Servlets/JSP lifecycle, JDBC, actions, events, implicit objects, custom tags and context.
• Industry-standard database (Oracle) on UNIX, with SQL scripting and performance tuning awareness.
• Unit testing frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG.
• Awareness of application and web servers.
• Plus: Angular, DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Lightspeed, Harness.
