Java Technical Lead

About the role

NCS, an AI tech services company and subsidiary of the Singtel Group, is hiring a Java Technical Lead in Singapore. The role leads technical delivery for complex projects, coaches junior developers and works closely with architects, infrastructure and cyber teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery for complex projects and understand business requirements, translating them into technical ones.
• Debug issues with the team and coach juniors on good software engineering practices.
• Work with upstream and downstream applications, infrastructure and cyber teams on integration, design and troubleshooting issues.
• Manage internal and client stakeholders, assign work to the team and track progress while completing your own tasks.
• Collaborate with architects on solution design and technical governance, ensuring best practices, frameworks and reusable components are used.
• Drive DevSecOps adoption and ensure application security compliance.
• Develop and review low-level designs for modules and services.

Required profile

• Singapore citizen only, due to government project sensitivity.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• More than 6 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying Java technologies.
• Solid experience as a Senior Developer or Tech Lead in enterprise projects.
• Spoken and written English, a can-do attitude and ability to work in grey areas.

Required skills

• Backend development with Spring Boot; frontend with React JS, Angular or TypeScript.
• Relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle and MS SQL.
• Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures.
• Basic monitoring with tools such as Splunk, Elastic and AppDynamics.
• Strong Java coding and design skills, and familiarity with Windows and Linux.
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor and Claude Code.
