Junior/Middle AI Engineer – Onsite Singapore

About the role

GEM Corp is looking for a Junior/Middle AI Engineer to work onsite in Singapore with its customer. The role builds production-ready AI applications for customers and internal teams, focusing on reliable AI products rather than training foundation models. Immediate onboarding is highly preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI
• Build LLM, RAG and GraphRAG applications
• Develop document ingestion, embedding, vector search and graph retrieval pipelines
• Design and manage prompts, evaluation datasets and AI quality checks
• Write unit, integration and end-to-end tests
• Containerise, deploy and monitor services with Docker and Kubernetes
• Use AI coding tools responsibly, reviewing and validating generated code
• Collaborate through Git, pull requests, code reviews and CI/CD workflows

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience building applications with LLMs, RAG, AI agents or open-source models
• Clear written and spoken English
• Eligible to work in Singapore
• Nice to have: a portfolio or production project showing practical AI engineering experience

Required skills

• Strong Python, with working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, SQL, Git, testing and software engineering fundamentals
• Prompts, tokens, embeddings and vector search
• Familiarity with graph databases, graph data modelling and Cypher or an equivalent query language
• Nice to have: FastAPI, Pydantic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, Neo4j, pgvector, Qdrant, Milvus, Chroma, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Linux, Langfuse, and awareness of AI security risks such as prompt injection and data leakage
