Lead AI Platform Architect

About the role

The Lead AI Platform Architect defines the architecture, technology strategy and roadmap for a client's enterprise AI platform, enabling secure, scalable and reusable AI capabilities across the organisation. The role sits at the centre of the AI platform ecosystem, supporting consistent AI solution delivery while aligning with business priorities, technology trends and enterprise governance. It works with Enterprise Architecture, AI Platform Engineering, AI Platform Operations, Cybersecurity, AI Solution Architects and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise AI platform architecture, technology roadmap and reference architecture
• Establish reusable AI platform capabilities, architectural principles, design standards and technical frameworks
• Evaluate and recommend hosted, self-hosted and open-weight foundation models against business, technical and governance needs
• Engage with technology partners, cloud providers and AI vendors, and lead proof-of-concept and pilot initiatives
• Define architecture for language, speech, voice, document, image, vision-language and video models
• Set standards and governance for AI model lifecycle management, including versioning, retraining, performance evaluation and retirement
• Recommend Build, Buy or Partner strategies for emerging AI technologies
• Publish reference architectures, design patterns, standards and implementation guidelines
• Review and govern architecture proposals, present them to the Solution Review Board and seek Architecture Review Board clearance
• Guide AI Platform Engineering teams, define observability and reliability requirements, and work with AI Security Architects on security and Responsible AI
• Mentor platform architects and senior engineers and advise senior management and stakeholders on AI platform strategy

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field
• At least 10 years of experience in enterprise, platform, software or cloud architecture
• At least 3 years designing AI, machine learning or generative AI platforms in an enterprise setting
• Proven experience defining architecture standards, roadmaps and reusable platform capabilities, and leading architecture governance
• On-site working arrangement
