Lead Engineer (Modelling and Simulation)

About the role

IMDA is seeking a Modelling and Simulation Lead focused on end-to-end systems to analyse the performance of enterprise applications across communication networks, including industrial applications. The role covers mobile, wired and quantum networks, and involves leading a small team of 1 or 2 people. The position is commensurate with experience; only shortlisted applicants will be notified.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team of 1 or 2 members specialising in end-to-end system modelling and simulation for enterprise and industrial applications.
• Develop and use modelling and simulation tools to analyse the performance of mobile, wired and quantum networks.
• Run scenario analyses to assess response time, latency, estimated error rates and other performance metrics.
• Work with engineers, researchers and industry partners to understand network requirements and constraints.
• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies and propose performance improvements.
• Stay up to date with advances in communication technologies and simulation tools, and contribute new techniques and methodologies.
• Prepare technical documentation, present project updates to stakeholders and write think pieces on technology for non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, and collaborate with government, industry and academic partners on emerging technologies and nationwide communications infrastructure.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in end-to-end system modelling and simulation, with a focus on enterprise and industrial applications.
• In-depth knowledge of mobile, wired and quantum networks.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience managing small teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, able to explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in end-to-end system modelling and simulation tools such as OPNET, NS-3, QuNetSim or similar.
