Lead UX Designer

About the role

HDB is building digital products and services that improve the lives of Singaporeans, and is looking for a Lead UX Designer to lead design for a product area, manage a team of product designers and work alongside product and engineering leads. The role suits someone who enjoys solving complex user problems, planning design work and engaging stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design end to end, from discovery and research through interaction design, delivery and post-launch iteration, and set the quality bar for the team
• Run design critiques and ensure design intent reaches the shipped product
• Apply and contribute to the central design system and the Whole-of-Government Digital Service Standards, including accessibility
• Own the design plan: scope work, sequence it against product and engineering milestones, estimate effort, allocate designers, surface risks early and track progress
• Act as the design voice for the product area with business owners, product managers, engineering leads and senior management, presenting recommendations and facilitating workshops
• Line-manage a team of UX designers: set goals, run performance reviews, build development plans, coach on craft and influence, and contribute to hiring

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, Service Design or a related discipline, including at least 2 years leading or managing designers
• A portfolio of shipped work, the process behind it and your influence on product decisions
• Experience leading design on complex, multi-stakeholder products, ideally in government, enterprise or regulated environments
• Track record of planning and running design work across a product area
• Strong stakeholder management and experience managing and developing designers

Required skills

• Proficiency with design tools such as Figma
• Strong grasp of design systems, accessibility and interaction design
• Competence with AI tools in day-to-day design work, such as research synthesis, content drafting, exploration and prototyping
