Lecturer, Civil Engineering (School of Design & Environment)

About the role

Ngee Ann Polytechnic is hiring a Lecturer in Civil Engineering for its School of Design & Environment. This is a 2-year contract position covering academic teaching, module leadership and non-academic support duties.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and deliver high-impact lectures, tutorials and practical laboratory or studio sessions, in physical classrooms and online or hybrid settings.
• Design and update module content across at least three core discipline areas, aligned with industry standards and local regulations.
• Set and conduct assessments, lead the integration of modules to meet course objectives, and experiment with new pedagogies or learning technologies.
• Guide full-time diploma students through projects, industry attachments and academic progression.
• Conduct evening classes (typically 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM) for part-time diploma and short-course students.
• Support school, diploma and module management, help keep the curriculum current, solve operational problems and supervise junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on professional experience in building, civil engineering, project engineering or environmental engineering.
• Thorough working knowledge of current local legislation, codes and professional practices.
• Strong written, oral and graphic communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Passion for teaching, mentorship and student success in physical and digital learning spaces.

Required skills

• Competence to teach at least three of: AutoCAD and Autodesk (Revit / BIM), Civil Engineering & Structural Design, Construction Management & Site Management, Environmental Sustainability & Green Building Technologies, Project Management, Surveying.
• Strong command of industry-standard digital tools such as AutoCAD, Revit / BIM, 3D modelling software and core office applications.
