Lecturer in Architectural Technology & Building Services

About the role

The School of Engineering seeks a Lecturer to design, develop and deliver industry‑relevant curriculum in Architectural Technology and Building Services. You will guide full‑time and part‑time students through innovative, sustainable projects and foster strong links with industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver curriculum, courseware and e‑learning modules that integrate architectural, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Lead and supervise student projects, work‑based learning, internships and study trips.
• Collaborate with industry partners to secure project opportunities and enhance applied learning.
• Participate in academic administration, committee work and outreach initiatives.
• Counsel, coach and mentor students on academic development, competitions and career planning.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Science or a related Built Environment field.
• Minimum 3 years professional experience in a building, mechanical or electrical consultancy.
• At least 2 years hands‑on experience with green or sustainable Built Environment projects.
• Strong communication, presentation and technical documentation abilities.
• Passion for education and a commitment to mentoring learners.

Required skills

• Building performance simulation for environmental impact and energy efficiency.
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) for integrated project delivery.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Professional certifications such as GMAP, LEED AP, WELL AP, EDGE Expert or GRI Certified Sustainability Professional (preferred).
