Lecturer, Industrial Automation – School of Engineering

About the role

This is a two‑year fixed‑term position as a Lecturer in Industrial Automation within the School of Engineering. You will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate education on automation technologies, industrial control systems, and production digitalisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials and hands‑on workshops covering PLC programming, HMI development and smart sensor integration.
• Teach industrial networking, IIoT gateways and OPC UA protocols for data collection and OEE calculations.
• Provide practical training on industrial control networks, OT cybersecurity and digitalisation tools.
• Supervise final‑year projects, mentor students and assess assignments, quizzes and exams.
• Engage with industry partners to create collaboration opportunities and organise overseas study trips or exchange programmes.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years of industry experience in industrial automation and production digitalisation.
• Passion for teaching, strong communication skills and ability to develop engaging curriculum.
