Lecturer - Mechanical Engineering

About the role

ITE College West is recruiting a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. Beyond teaching, the role involves recognising and nurturing students' potential and lifelong learning needs, mentoring them academically and personally, and staying current through industry or consultancy projects and regular industry attachments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging lectures in either automation technologies and smart systems, or mechanical systems maintenance and operations.
• Mentor and guide students in their academic and personal growth.
• Undertake industry or consultancy projects and build strong links with industry and educational institutions.
• Take part in regular industry attachments to update skills and professional practice.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years in industrial automation, robotics systems or smart manufacturing; or in mechanical systems maintenance, industrial piping and valve operations, or machinery maintenance.
• Trained in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline, with practical experience in the chosen specialisation.
• Up-to-date with at least one of: digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0, IoT integration and predictive maintenance, condition monitoring systems and cybersecurity, or sustainability practices in automation and manufacturing.
• Passion for engineering and teaching, with strong communication skills and ability to mentor students.
• An advantage: knowledge of AI in engineering, professional robotics certifications, or experience training technical personnel.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least two of: PLC programming and system integration; industrial robotics setup, programming and maintenance; automation troubleshooting and smart manufacturing technologies; mechanical systems maintenance and testing; industrial piping and valve installation and repair; machinery maintenance including transmission systems and industrial pumps.

Candidates with good and relevant experience may be considered for Senior Lecturer or equivalent positions, with career development toward leadership roles in the Colleges or Headquarters. Applicants can check their application status after 8 weeks from the closing date.
