Legal Counsel – APAC

About the role

The Legal Counsel will act as a proactive, strategic business partner for the APAC region, supporting private label, innovation, sales and other commercial activities. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, APAC, the role ensures compliance, manages legal risk and protects intellectual property across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements with vendors, customers and third parties, including manufacturing, supply, distribution, packaging, banking, finance, warehousing, R&D and other contracts.
• Advise Treasury, Finance and group functions on banking and finance matters such as financing arrangements, guarantees, security documents and intercompany agreements.
• Provide clear, practical advice on product, food, labeling, advertising, consumer protection and other regulatory issues affecting the company’s operations.
• Manage disputes, investigations and potential claims, coordinating internal stakeholders and external counsel while advising on dispute‑avoidance strategies.
• Support key regional customers with strategic legal guidance and develop commercially appropriate solutions.
• Participate in cross‑functional, regional and global projects involving the Legal team.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, informing stakeholders of potential impacts.
• Analyze complex legal issues and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.

Required profile

• LLB, Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree.
• At least ten (10) years of post‑qualification legal experience in a leading law firm or multinational corporate legal function.
• Substantial experience in commercial contracting and banking & finance; experience in manufacturing, international trade, dispute management or food law is preferred.
• Qualified to practise law in at least one recognised jurisdiction and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
• Strong academic and professional background, sound judgement, exemplary ethical standards and integrity.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, matrixed organisation, managing competing priorities independently and collaboratively.
