Legal Counsel – M&A & Corporate/Commercial

About the role

As a Legal Counsel in the bank’s Legal Department, you will drive the design and execution of legal strategies across M&A, corporate and commercial matters within a fast‑moving digital banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level regulatory and strategic advice to the bank and its regional affiliates.
• Lead and support M&A transactions, strategic investments, joint ventures and other corporate exercises.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex agreements including SaaS/PaaS procurement, partnership contracts and intra‑group service agreements.
• Advise on digital banking product launches, data protection (PDPA) and intellectual property issues.
• Manage disputes, corporate governance matters and risk mitigation.
• Identify and implement legal technology solutions such as AI‑based tools and document automation.
• Coordinate external counsel to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality legal services.

Required profile

• LLB (or equivalent) from a reputable university and admission to the Singapore Bar (or equivalent common‑law jurisdiction).
• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience with at least 2–3 years in‑house at a financial institution.
• Proven track record in M&A and corporate/commercial law.
• Strong understanding of banking regulations in Singapore and tech‑related legal issues.
