Machinist

About the role

GE Aerospace Engine Services Singapore (GEAESS) is looking for a Machinist to set up and operate machines such as CNC machines in milling, grinding and lathe, EDM, surface grinding, VT lathe and other conventional and specialised equipment to carry out machining operations. The site has been advancing aerospace innovation across Asia Pacific for over 40 years, and GEAESS is the largest site for engine component MRO, handling more than 60% of global repair volume.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines (EDM, laser machine, lathe, radial grinder, reciprocal grinder, milling machine, drilling machine and other specialised equipment) to make jigs, fixtures, tools, dies, gauges, test equipment and product parts, and to rework or modify them.
• Follow a particular product through the machine shop using a variety of machine tools to complete the finished product.
• Use standard and special gauges and hand tools.
• Maintain records and work according to technical drawings and instructions.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and housekeeping tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum GCE 'O' level with 3 years of relevant experience in machining or CNC machining.
• Preferably NITEC/Higher NITEC in Mechanical/Precision Engineering or equivalent, or a Diploma in Mechanical/Precision/Manufacturing Engineering.
• Able to read and understand manufacturing operation sheets and standard operating procedures in English.

Required skills

• Preferred: knowledge of CNC programming.
• Preferred: ability to comprehend technical drawings and instructions.
• Preferred: ability to use measuring instruments.
• Preferred: previous experience in a manufacturing environment, good mechanical aptitude, teamwork.
