Manager, Industry Communications

About the role

This role supports the communications strategy for IMDA's business programmes by developing messaging, communications plans and key media strategies. It covers managing relations with media, internal and external stakeholders as well as external industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand priorities and programmes, and develop and implement end-to-end public communications plans to raise awareness of them
• Coordinate with other business teams, agencies and ministries where required
• Analyse data from various sources to build plans that manage public narratives across all channels
• Oversee media management, including briefings, materials, pitches, interview requests and talking points for speaking engagements and speeches
• Build audience awareness for business policy, programmes and initiatives
• Work with teams to align plans and messaging with the intended audiences

Required profile

• Background in public relations, communications, journalism or marketing, or a related discipline
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in journalism, public relations or government communications
• Experience working with and pitching to reporters from tech and business beats across media channels is an advantage but not a prerequisite
• Experience managing third-party agencies, vendors and suppliers
• Ability to understand business unit needs and turn them into effective communications plans
• Curiosity about the tech and media industry
