Manager, Lab Operations

About the role

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU is looking for a Manager, Lab Operations to lead the robotics laboratories. The role ensures smooth teaching and research activities, maintains safety standards and supports outreach initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day‑to‑day operations of robotics labs supporting teaching and research.
• Allocate and manage manpower resources to meet operational demands.
• Plan laboratory budgets and ensure procurement follows university financial policies.
• Maintain laboratory assets, inventory records and conduct regular audits.
• Provide teaching support for laboratory experiments and projects.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and engineering services.
• Organise and support laboratory outreach activities and events.
• Conduct safety risk assessments for all equipment and processes, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or Computer Engineering.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a technical support role within mechatronics, motion control or robotics.
• Strong interpersonal skills and motivation to work in a university environment.
• Good management, leadership and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of fundamental manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Understanding of computer control systems and related software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with workplace safety standards, specifically ISO 45001.
