Manager / Senior Manager (Strategic Planning Division)

About the role

The Strategic Planning Division is looking for a Manager or Senior Manager who will act as an individual contributor. You will help shape the division's strategic direction, policy work and organisational development, working across the division and with external partners such as MOM and whole-of-government agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and support strategic planning work to set the division's long-term direction and priorities
• Develop and coordinate strategies that inform policy, programmes and initiatives
• Translate strategic priorities into coordinated plans with other divisions
• Monitor emerging trends and future developments, including with the Futures Office
• Handle strategic communications issues arising from strategic priorities, with the Strategic Comms Division where needed
• Formulate and review policies, and coordinate whole-of-government policies for the Jobs and Skills agenda
• Lead policy reviews and act as a key interface with MOM and whole-of-government partners on policy, including Budget/COS and Parliamentary Question responses
• Support organisational development by aligning structures, processes and ways of working with strategy, working across corporate planning and HR

Required profile

• Strong writing and communication skills
• Good theoretical understanding of labour economics and a solid grasp of public governance principles
• Familiarity with data governance is preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage internal and external stakeholders
• Able to work independently, proactively manage work and handle a fast-paced environment
• Meticulous, organised and committed to the ethos of public service
