Manager, Tech Policy

About the role

IMDA is leading Singapore's drive to become a world-leading Digital Economy, and its BizTech Group (BTG) drives industry adoption of frontier technologies such as AI/Data, 5G/6G, Quantum Communications and Digital Trust. As part of the Tech Policy team, you will develop policies and strategies for these efforts to create economic uplift, advance digital infrastructure and strengthen digital resilience and sovereignty.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support on technology policy issues and developments.
• Develop thought leadership and policy perspectives to guide technology policy and strategy.
• Research and analyse technology policies and their implications for different stakeholders.
• Develop strategies for the adoption and use of emerging technologies, based on research and analysis.
• Align IMDA's efforts with broader national priorities, coordinating and collaborating across Government.
• Identify and engage international forums and partners to strengthen IMDA's voice and influence.
• Engage key external stakeholders on technology policy issues.
• Deliver strategic think-pieces and policy positions on AI, quantum, 5G/6G, trust tech and Green ICT, along with timely updates on trends.
• Develop strategic narratives supporting BizTech Group's initiatives and secure resources for its strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Keen interest in developing policy positions and strategies for emerging technologies such as quantum communications, 6G and AI, with the ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces.
• Some experience working with technology teams in policy, research and/or engineering is preferred.
• Strategic thinker and strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and engagement skills.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, working with local and international partners.
• International or industry experience, and familiarity with the Singapore Government, are highly valued.
