Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Singapore. The engineer develops and maintains methods, operating sequences and processes for fabricating parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies, and works with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain methods, operating sequences and processes for the fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
• Coordinate with other engineering functions the release of product improvements and new products.
• Use DFx principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing and product costs and to improve product quality.
• Determine time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements.
• Develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results and assess work methods, procedures and policies.
• Identify root causes of issues arising during assembly or system testing, perform Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis and provide reports as needed.
• Lead supplier issue management, including frequent travel to support troubleshooting and resolve technical challenges.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2-4 years of related experience.
• Preferred: strong conceptual knowledge and technical experience for everyday problem solving, solid interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, work in tight spaces, bend, squat, twist, kneel, reach, lift, distinguish colours and work in noisy environments; use of hand and power tools and clean-room PPE (coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, aprons, face shields) may be required.
