Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chips and advanced displays, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Singapore. The engineer develops and maintains methods, operating sequences and processes for fabricating parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies, and works with other engineering functions to coordinate product improvements and new products. The role uses engineering principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing costs, improve quality, set time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Work with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to meet daily move, output, cycle time and line yield targets through lot dispatch priorities, tool setup allocation, tool preventive maintenance scheduling, DL deployment and tool time request management.
• Take part in daily engineering meetings, highlighting line focus and priorities to support fab performance.
• Collaborate daily with manufacturing production control and engineering teams on tool time requests.
• Drive manufacturing teams on continuous DL productivity improvement, 5S, safety and quality compliance.
• Ensure an adequate supply of control wafers to meet daily tool requirements.
• Lead and take part in continuous improvement projects.
• Develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results and assess work methods, procedures and policies to find root causes and solutions.

Required profile

• Strong conceptual knowledge and technical experience for everyday problem solving.
• Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, work in tight spaces, bend, squat, twist, kneel, reach and lift, and to distinguish colours.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment and in a clean room, which may require personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields.

The position is full-time, regular and based in Singapore; travel is not required and relocation is not eligible.
