Manufacturing Supervisor

About the role

Illumina is looking for a Manufacturing Supervisor to provide effective leadership and supervision of production personnel on a high-throughput biotechnology production line. The role covers production oversight, resource management, talent acquisition and development, and performance management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee production in one or more areas: reagent manufacturing, arrays, flow cells and manifolds
• Ensure production goals are met and schedule and manage resources
• Track and report results, troubleshoot issues, train employees and implement process improvements
• Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Shipping and Planning groups
• Write and revise work instructions and train technicians on their use
• Manage work orders, batch records, training records, shift changeovers, production scheduling and timesheets
• Talent acquisition: identify staffing needs, justify budgets, coordinate with HR, review resumes, interview and recommend candidates, and handle orientation
• Talent development: build training plans, give ongoing guidance and career counselling
• Performance management: set standards, give feedback, run appraisals, create improvement plans and reward achievements
• Ensure employees follow company policies and procedures

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
• 0-3 years' manufacturing experience, preferably with 1-2 years of supervisory experience; candidates with NTC/NITEC or high school diplomas and 10-15 years of relevant experience may also be considered
• Preferred: pharmaceutical/life science manufacturing experience, night shift and 24/7 management experience, and ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (4 monthly rotations)
• Able to work in noisy and chemical environments with PPE, and to distinguish colours visually
• Positive attitude, sense of urgency, meticulous and organised

Required skills

• cGMP, ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 operations (required)
• Inventory control, SAP or similar (preferred)
• Knowledge of GMP regulations for clinical diagnostic products and R&D-to-manufacturing transition (preferred)
