Manufacturing Technician 1

About the role

Illumina is hiring a Manufacturing Technician 1 to carry out operational and Autonomous maintenance (TPM) activities. This includes cleaning, setup, operation and maintenance of equipment, and assembly, formulation, packaging and inspection of finished products in compliance with cGMP, quality and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform manufacturing tasks to produce high-quality products following cGMP, quality, safety and work instruction requirements
• Set up equipment and run functional tests before production
• Carry out quality inspections, checks and verifications and follow up on actions per work instructions
• Enter data in MES and ERP systems and process work orders to complete products to inventory
• Kit and pack products, and keep the work area clean (6S)
• Support troubleshooting of simple product, process and equipment issues and assist in incident investigations
• Take part in 6S activities, periodic inventory checks and cycle counts, and help with equipment maintenance
• Work in teams to meet daily production schedules and equipment efficiency targets, with direct supervision

Required profile

• Good understanding of manufacturing, enterprise systems, IoT and automation
• Compliance with cGMP, quality and work safety instructions, and ability to work safely and efficiently
• High level of discipline, integrity and attention to detail; able to rotate jobs and cross-train
• Able to work in a manufacturing environment including cleanrooms, with possible exposure to chemicals, cold rooms and loud noise, and to wear PPE
• Shift work: 12-hour rotating shifts (day 08:00-20:15, night 20:00-08:15) with 4 monthly rotations between day and night, plus long periods standing and lifting 15 kg or less

Required skills

• Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, scanners and power tools
• Reading of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and interpretation of engineering safety practices with guidance
• Visual identification of colour-coded components and chemicals
• Preferred: 5 years of operations experience (secondary school) or 3 years (O'Level); 0-1 year for NITEC or equivalent; GMP manufacturing experience; knowledge of automation, IoT and TPM is an advantage
• For the Formulation team only: science-stream education, biochemistry/biotechnology/chemical manufacturing experience, enzyme/protein/antibody handling, and experience with laboratory and analytical instruments
