Manufacturing Technician - Cleanroom Equipment Assembly

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Manufacturing Technician in Singapore. The role is hands-on in a cleanroom environment, where you build, repair and test multimillion-dollar display and wafer fabrication equipment, including electrical, electro-mechanical, vacuum and pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.

Key responsibilities

• Use work orders (schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists and instructions) to build, repair and test equipment of various kinds.
• Work under moderate supervision on electro-mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Receive parts, audit their availability, inspect them for defects and help troubleshoot and improve processes.
• Test assemblies and components with test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors and vacuum pumps.
• Complete job documentation (data entry) on progress, work expense and labour details, and perform computer programming, repairs or software installs when needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• 1-2 years of semiconductor or display experience, or comparable industry or military experience.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools.
• Preferred: associate's degree or technical education, certifications or training; solid analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
• Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, working in tight spaces, lifting, climbing stairs and ladders, and using hand and power tools and forklifts; cleanroom PPE such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields may be required.
