Manufacturing Technician (Shift Work)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring a Manufacturing Technician in Singapore. The role is shift-based and involves hands-on work in a cleanroom environment building, repairing and testing multimillion-dollar display and wafer fabrication equipment, including electrical, electro-mechanical, vacuum and pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.

Key responsibilities

• Build, repair and test equipment using work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists and instructions
• Perform electro-mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and repairs under supervision, following learned procedures
• Audit parts availability, inspect parts for defects and troubleshoot and improve processes
• Test assemblies with test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors and vacuum pumps
• Complete job documentation (data entry) on progress, work expense and labour details
• Perform computer programming, repairs or software installations as needed

Required profile

• High school or technical diploma, technical degree, certificate or equivalent
• Basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process
• Ability to follow written and verbal standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of basic hand tools
• Preferred: up to 1 year of semiconductor or display experience, or comparable industry or military experience; technical education, certifications or training; experience adhering to quality guidelines

Required skills

• Electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting
• Use of test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors and vacuum pumps
• Use of hand and power tools
• Ability to work in a noisy environment and in a cleanroom with PPE such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields

The position is full-time and physically demanding, involving prolonged standing, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, lifting and operating heavy machinery such as forklifts. Relocation is not eligible.
