Materials Project Manager (M5)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring a Materials Project Manager (M5) in Singapore. The role covers end-to-end planning, sourcing, inventory control and supplier management for the materials function.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage a cross-functional planning process covering make versus buy, capacity planning, scheduling, inventory and associated costs.
• Analyse customer demand, sales forecasts and historical material usage to run build-to-order and build-to-forecast plans.
• Coordinate with business teams on the best-cost production planning strategy and establish inventory forecasting, purchasing and material control processes.
• Manage production scheduling by monitoring inventories, tracking progress and reviewing schedule-affecting factors.
• Ensure accurate inventory counts through an inventory control system managed with Finance, and take corrective action on discrepancies.
• Develop and execute a sourcing strategy and manage relationships with suppliers, including a supplier scorecard evaluation and reporting system.
• Work with quality, engineering, machining and assembly to ensure 100% on-time delivery.
• Represent the materials organisation on corporate materials task forces, manage the department budget and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality on cost reduction.
• Select, evaluate and manage employees to ensure efficient operation of the function.

Required profile

• Comprehensive understanding of concepts in the job family and knowledge of related areas.
• Ability to manage multiple teams, set priorities and allocate resources.
• Ability to resolve complex technical, operational and organisational problems and influence stakeholders, including senior management.

The position is full time, with travel of about 10% of the time and relocation eligibility.
