Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Singapore. The engineer uses a strong foundation in physics, mathematics and materials science to solve mechanical problems, design and implement custom tooling and processes, and handle, assemble and disassemble parts and assemblies throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision
• Define, coordinate, perform and document engineering test reports
• Develop, design or modify layouts, schematics and drawings/specifications of difficult scope
• Perform engineering analysis of difficult scope with limited supervision
• Lead or execute projects, develop key suppliers and generate mechanical product specifications
• Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes, and set standards across operations
• Review engineering documentation and specify requirements
• Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and build consensus

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• 4-7 years of experience
• Demonstrated experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis and/or Design for Excellence principles

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of the Applied Materials product life cycle, including prototyping, packaging, material selection and manufacturing methods
